How often should I bathe my Pomeranian? It depends on your dog and their activity level/lifestyle. If they live mainly indoors and have low activity levels, then once or twice a month is probably enough.
I usually bathe my Pomeranians once a week because they play in our home garden and get dirty. If they play outside often or get dirty frequently, then once a week may be necessary. Some Pomeranians can develop skin issues if bathed too often – so it’s best to test their conditions.
Pomeranians do not require frequent bathing. You can bathe them once every four weeks. And it would be fine. To keep their coats healthy and free of tangles and mats, they should be brushed daily.
As a dog owner, you must decide how frequently to bathe your dog according to his or her needs.
Steps to Bathe Your Pomeranian Safely
- Get everything you need before starting the bath, so you are not scrambling for things during the process. It includes shampoo, towels, a cup or pitcher for rinsing, and treats.
- Put a rubber mat in the bottom of the tub to prevent your dog from slipping and ensure the water is not too hot or cold. Test it yourself first to be safe.
- Lead your dog into the bathroom calmly without making a big deal out of it lest they get nervous. Praise your Pomeranian as they walk in so that they associate positive feelings with bath time.
- If possible, have someone help you hold onto your dog while you wet their fur thoroughly with warm water being careful not to get any in their face or ears.
- Apply doggy shampoo starting at their head and working your way back, taking care to avoid getting any soap in their eyes.
- Use a cup or pitcher filled with clean water to rinse away all shampoo suds traces, ensuring to avoid pouring directly over their head.
- Wrap your Pomeranian in a towel and gently rub them down
- Let them shake off any remaining moisture outside.
